Fantastic Number Hedgehogs

Neat numbers with happy hedgehogs.

Number Hedgehogs and Ladybugs!

We have been involved in fun and innovative ways to count within the 0-10 range in Rm16 this week.  We have counted boots, spots and spikes on our Number Hedgehogs and Ladybugs.  We also enjoy naming the numbers before and after any number up to 10.  We are sparkling maths wizards!!

Welcome to Wonderful Week 8!

Welcome to Week 8 in Room 16 @ Russley School.  Our class is continuing to grow.  We are thrilled to have Benjamin McNally and Taylor Henderson in our cool class.  Currently on school visits we welcome Edmond Chen and Jimmy Kitchingman.  This week we are learning about the letter H.

We have also been continuing to discover how things can change the state they are in.  This week we have made jelly, and participated in the transformation of crystals to the finished product.  Our science experiment evolved into an awesome writing experience, after we tested the taste of our experiment.

Check back later to view our happy hedgehogs, a sparkling Maths lesson on counting forward and back within the 0-10 range!
Benjamin gets mixing!

Our jelly changed state from being crystals, to liquid and finally a set composition of wobbly, delicious stuff!

Jelly!

The scientists came to the conclusion that the Lemonade Jelly tasted ok!

A Popcorn Extravaganza!

The fabulous children in Room 16 have been investigating how Popcorn can change its state - or the way it looks and feels, and transform into something quite different!  Read about the variety of ways we have utilised the humble popcorn kernel on our learning journey.
Our Popcorn storywriting experience.
Our storywriting was a Recount which described Making Popcorn in our own words.
Resourceful Room 16 created these wonderful Popcorn Art works with our Science experiment materials.
Where our experiment began...
Room 16 scientists Oliver, Keira, Camryn and Asti are ready to investigate what happened to our little kernels!
Wow! What a difference 3 minutes can make!
From kernel to popcorn.  The process which created the 'Change of State' was heat, generated from a microwave in our Science Room.

Pop! Pop! Pop!

Our finished product!  We integrated our Science experiment with literacy and the Arts, by creating Popcorn Art featuring our names.  Check out our art in our cloakroom.  Well done Rm 16!

Week 5!

Welcome to Week 5 - and a HUGE welcome to Oliver Burgess, who started school on Monday May 18th.  We are so happy to have our first boy in Room 16 :)  Currently on school visits we are lucky to have Benjamin McNally and Taylor Henderson spending time with us in Rm16.
It is wonderful to be a part of our growing classroom!

We are continuing to question, discover and report upon our findings during our cool Science Inquiry topic on Change entitled Abracadabra!  We are learning Materials can undergo change, and the results are very rewarding.
Room 16 has enjoyed transforming water and juice into ice blocks, which we devoured!  Our story writing integrates well with our findings too.
This week we have created our very own Playdough from a range of everyday ingredients.  It was fun to take our Science experiment home!

Week 1!

Our wonderful mathematicians in Rm 16 have created some beautiful butterflies. Number facts to 5 were our focus with great results.

We are learning to be part of the awesome Rm16 team and have been reading a lovely story which has a focus upon friendships, including everybody and kindness.  The children have made these gorgeous Rainbow Fish which support this learning experience.
